Obituary for Douglas "Doug" Smith

Douglas “Doug” Smith, age 74, of Cohutta, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Hill Baker. He was a member of Chatsworth First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Baker Smith of Cohutta; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Kathy Smith of Vonore, TN; Mother-in-law, Maudie Baker of Dalton; sister-in-law and husband, Lavada and Willis Treadwell of Dalton; grandsons, Grant Smith of Cleveland, TN, Joshua and Tori Martin of Knoxville, TN; nieces and nephews, Lisa and David Redmond, Morgan and Matthew Redmond, Karen and Randy Rogers and Andrew and Ashley Rogers, all of Dalton. Because of the snow and icey weather, the funeral service has been changed to Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Tamlyn Collins and Bro. Darren Payne officiating. Burial will be in the Whitfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 5:00 p. m. until 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Saturday Sacks, First United Methodist Church, Chatsworth, GA.  You may leave the family a message at Funeral arrangements are by Julian Peeples Funeral Home, Dalton.
