Obituary for Frances "Frankie" Williams

Frances Elizabeth “Frankie” Williams, age 95, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at her home. Frankie was preparing for her 96th birthday here on earth on November 4th, but was given her early celebration with Jesus and other loved ones. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and companion of over fifty years, Mayford Freeman Williams and are reunited again after almost twenty years. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Rev. W F and Nellie Walston Smith; sisters, Willie May Dantzler, Lena Lucille Smith, Nellie Sue Thorne, Johnie Louise Baltra and Vivian “Cricket” Bevil; brothers, James E. Smith and Byron F. Smith are now once again a completed circle together. Great-granddaughter, Keri Anne Joyce preceded her as well.Frankie was an active member of Cohutta First Baptist and Cohutta Seniors Luncheon. Music was a very important part of her life and she sang with her sisters for years as well as she and Mayford singing with community quartets. Greeting cards became a ministry and she took joy in sending words of hope and encouragement. Her time spent as a paraprofessional at Whifield County Special Education Center right before retirement was a truly special time of love and enjoyment.Frankie graduated from Dalton High in 1939. After she and Mayford married, they attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. It was during this time that she became a loyal “Vol” fan. Though short in stature and nicknamed “Shorty” by Mayford, she stood tall in loving her family. Often referred to as the “quiet strength” or “glue”, she held it all together. She was there to offer love, support and guidance in any way she could. A mighty little prayer warrior she was too. Even during tough times, Frankie remained full of faith, hope and encouragement. She loved life and wanted others to experience it. Frankie will be missed, but certainly not forgotten. She is survived by a daughter, Jane Williams of Cohutta; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne Joyce and Dan and Rachel Williams, all of Cohutta; sister-in-law, Millicent Smith of Dalton; grandchildren, Kelly and Susan Joyce of Villa Rica, GA, Matt and Cristinia Williams of Cohutta, Kevin Joyce of Rocky Face, Beth and Barry Ownby of Cohutta; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 special nieces, Beverly Pulliam and Janine Leonard; family friend, Kathy Walker.          A memorial service will be held, Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Cohutta First Baptist Church with Rev.
